P & F

St Mary's P & F Association

The function of the St.Mary's P & F Association is to support the school and the general school community.  Parents make up this Association and assist the school where possible with various school events such as Open Days, official functions etc.

The P & F administer the Fund Raising Levy collected by the school each term.  This levy is used to provide resources to the school in a way which benefits as many of the students at St.Mary's as possible.  An example of this is the refurbished C3 Computer Room, now home to an impressive array of some thirty computers.  Redevelopment of the school website, a new lathe for manual arts and a kiln are all typical projects.

The P & F also maintains a commitment to the  Sports Complex with a regular donation to the Old Boys' Association to assist with maintaining this magnificent facility for the school.

A very important project developed by the P & F in conjunction with Queensland Transport is the Driver Experience Enhancement Program or DEEP.  This aim of the program is to encourage learner drivers to get as much experience as possible driving in a wide range of conditions while under the supervision of an experienced driver (mentor) or instructor.  This program has previously won a prestigious Queensland Road Safety Award.  A full explanation of DEEP may be found in the Community section of this website.

On a social note, the P & F conducts evenings such as Trivia Nights & Theatre Nights.  These types of occasions are ideal for a relaxing night out and a chance to meet other parents from the school.

P & F meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month (except during school holidays) at 7.30pm in the Staff Room which is located on the first level of the Administration Block in Margaret Street.  A member of school administration is usually present to keep us up to date on what is happening in the school and these meetings are a very good way of providing feedback to the school about any matters.
