Driver Experience Enhancement Program (D.E.E.P)
In 2002 the St Mary's P&F through the leadership of the late Sel Rowlings, established the Driver Experience Enhancement Program (D.E.E.P) in conjunction with Queensland Transport. The program is a mentor driving program based on the research work of Dr Ron Christie a well respected Australian road safety adviser. The program was recognised by RACQ and CARRS-Q by being selected as the joint winner for the 2004 Road Safety Awards for a school project.
D.E.E.P encourages families to understand;
· the safety benefits young drivers obtain when the quality and quantity of pre-licence driving experience is increased to 120 hours.
· the benefits of selecting a high quality driving instructor.
· how a driving logbook can assist to improve the effectiveness of the mentor.
· The driving standards a new driver is required to exceed before a provisional licence is issued.
How do families join the program?
