LIBRARY INFORMATION
At St Mary’s College, the Secondary Library offers students a range of resources to assist learning and encourage reading. The library has an up-to-date selection of fiction titles, as well as non-fiction and reference books. Magazines and newspapers are also available for reading. The library has a selection of DVDs, videos, CDs and audio books to support the learning programs.

Computers
Computers are available in the library to assist students with their assessment. Students can access the internet for school purposes. USBs can be used in the library but must be checked by library staff prior to use. CDs cannot be accessed on the library computers.
Magazines
The library has a range of magazines for students to read, including sporting, science and car magazines. The current magazines are issued at the circulation desk for reading in the library only. Previous issues can be borrowed overnight.
Photocopying
The library offers photocopying facilities – charges apply.

Years 8/9
Fiction: 2 books per student can be borrowed for 14 days.
Non-fiction: 2 books per student can be borrowed for 14 days.
Audio Books: 1 per student can be borrowed for 14 days.

Borrowing Procedures
All items are to be checked out at the circulation desk. Your ID card is required for borrowing. Books can be renewed or reserved at the circulation desk. Secondary students may also borrow books from the Primary Library.
Returns and Overdue Books
Books are to be returned by the due date which is stamped in the front of the book. Please place returns in the “Returns” chute at the circulation desk. Students with overdue books cannot borrow until their overdue books are returned. Overdue notices are issued to students on a weekly basis in their mentor groups. If you receive an overdue notice please come to the circulation desk to either renew or return your book. If you have lost the library book please see the library staff and complete a “Lost Book” form. Overdue books that are not returned will be charged to accounts at the end of each term.
Rules
- The library is for study and quiet reading.
- Bags
are to be left on the port racks in the library foyer.
- There
is to be no eating or drinking in the library or the library
foyer/balcony/stairs.
- Mobile
phones should be turned off and are not to be accessed while in the library.
- Hats
are not to be worn in the library.
- Computers
are for school use only.
- Please
ask the library staff to check USBs before using.
- Students coming to the library during
class must have a permission slip signed by their teacher.
