St Mary’s College is a Catholic boys’ school that exists for the individual holistic education of each student.
This education is based on a belief in God and a commitment to the Gospel values of Love, Happiness, Forgiveness, Justice, Integrity and self-awareness.
The interaction of staff, students and parents is based on principles that consider the rights of self and others, as well as maintaining personal responsibility for our behaviour.
In this our mutual journey of growth and development, we are following in the footsteps of Christ who challenges us to fulfil our individual duties and responsibilities as a member of a Catholic school.
Whatever the outcome the behaviour management program must enable the student to be self-reflecting and allow him to learn from the experience. In keeping with the Edmund Rice tradition, each boy is treated as a unique individual.
Specific areas of behaviour management can be addressed by the Principal, Assistant Principal (Student Development), House Coordinators, Mentor Teachers, College Counsellor and others according to their role.
There are a number of ways in which students are rewarded and acknowledged for correct behaviour. These are listed under THE POSITIVES.
