College Uniforms

 

Wearing of the Uniform and Appearance

Clean and neat wearing of the school uniform is part of a student's responsibility in attending St Mary’s College.  It is seen as a sign of the student's sense of self-respect, and their willingness to be part of the St Mary’s College community.

All students are expected to wear full, correct uniform.  Students, who are unable to wear any part of the uniform, should have a note signed by parent/carer(s).  Students must wear the full uniform in public, not parts of the uniform mixed with other clothing e.g. going home after sports training.

  • Hats are compulsory and must be worn at all times when not in a building.  This includes travelling to and from school.
  • Students doing Applied Design Technology subjects must wear school leather shoes at these lessons at all times.
  • Jewellery – wrist watch only.  Any other jewellery may be confiscated for a period of time and kept with the Assistant Principal – Student Development.
  • If clothing has to be worn under the school uniform it must only be a plain white T shirt or singlet.Students are expected to be clean shaven at all times.

 Academic Uniform

  • Trousers – long navy in Terylene/wool or Terylene/viscose.  Not work shorts (e.g. King Gee type)
  • Shirt – regulation blue, long or short sleeve.  White for years 11 & 12 students only.
  • Pullover or zip up jacket – St Mary’s College design only.
  • Tie – may only be removed after morning mentor time in Terms 1 & 4.  To be put back on before afternoon mentor.
  • Socks – Dark for those with long trousers.  Navy (with turn-over tops) and College colours, for those with shorts; and garters.
  • Belt – black or navy blue only.
  • Shoes – polished black leather (jogger style are not permitted)
  • Hat – College broad, brimmed hat. 
  • Beanie – (optional) to be worn only in Terms 2 & 3.  Plain navy or navy blue and white stripes only.

Sports Uniform

Primary boys wear full sports uniform to College on Fridays.  Secondary boys wear full sports uniform on Wednesdays.

  • White shorts (design available at Hannas only.)
  • College House shirt
  • Socks – white or white with navy blue bands only.  Football socks are not to be worn as part of the uniform.
  • Anklet socks are optional. St Mary’s anklet socks are the only ones permitted to be worn.
  • College tracksuit only.

P.E. Uniform Changing

Apart from the designated Sports Days, the PE uniform is not to be worn to and from school.  Students are to change into their PE uniforms, the break before their lesson (i.e. morning tea or lunch, etc) and out of them the break after, or if time permits at the end of the lesson.  Students may only remain in PE uniform if they are playing sport for the school which starts straight after school.
