A Letter Across the World Inspires the Cast of Catch Me If You Can – The Musical

3rd June 2026

As production week begins for Catch Me If You Can - The Musical, it wasn’t a rehearsal or costume fitting that left the biggest impression on the cast - it was a letter.

All the way from New York, the real Frank Abagnale Jr. took the time to write to the students of St Mary’s College and St Saviour’s College. As his words were read aloud, the room shifted. What had been a story they were rehearsing suddenly became something much more real.

There was a sense of disbelief at first, then excitement, and then a quiet moment where it really sank in. The person they’ve been studying, portraying, and bringing to life on stage had reached out to them directly.

Moments like that don’t happen often in school productions.

It gave the cast a different kind of energy - one that goes beyond lines, choreography and staging. It was a reminder that this story isn’t just entertainment; it’s someone’s life, someone’s journey.

A big thank you to St Mary’s teacher Mr John Parker for making this happen. It’s an experience the cast won’t forget anytime soon.

As the cast now steps into performance week, they do so with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement - carrying with them the words and encouragement of Frank Abagnale Jr. himself. It’s a rare and special beginning to what promises to be an outstanding production.
