QLD Representative for National Student Voice

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Ethan Payne who has been recently selected as the Queensland representative for the National Student Voice.
At the College, Ethan been elected as the Premier of the Student Voice Council. As Premier, Ethan encourages a range of students from different year levels and cultural backgrounds to join and share their ideas.
Ethan is also a proud member of the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Youth Leaders, which he joined in September 2022. The Toowoomba Regional Council Youth Leaders role is to listen to community concerns and think of actionable solutions to address these concerns. A recent focus for Ethan and another Youth Leader is to bring a neurosurgeon to Toowoomba.
Ethan has been involved in various extracurricular activities such as Debating, Public Speaking, Music, Cricket, Social Justice Initiatives, Ethics Olympiad, Science and Engineering Challenge, Da Vinci Decathlon all which have helped shape his leadership. He has also developed a short documentary series ‘Around the Grounds’ to showcase life at St Mary’s College.
Ethan is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. He builds productive working relationships, communicates with clarity and transparency, and advocates for the needs of students.
